Manchester Jazz Festival
The Manchester Jazz Festival (mjf) is a major cultural event in the city, celebrated as the longest-running music festival of its kind in Manchester.
The festival is not limited to traditional jazz. It is celebrated for its genre-pushing lineup, which includes everything from experimental jazz and electronic afro-funk to soul, R&B, and even spoken word.
The 2025 festival marked its 30th anniversary, a "bumper edition" that took place from May 16th to May 25th. The lineup featured a wide array of artists, including international acts as well as local talent.
Freight Island 2021
The Manchester Jazz Festival's 2021 event was a free, three-day micro-festival held in June, primarily at Escape to Freight Island at Depot Mayfield. Due to ongoing COVID-19 restrictions, it was a condensed version of the usual city-wide festival.
