Scottish Storytelling Festival
The world's largest celebration of storytelling, boasting an extensive program that encompasses a diverse array of cultures, traditions, and styles.
Imagine Online 2021
To commemorate World Storytelling Day on March 20, 2022, SISF presented a captivating collection of 11 world-class storytelling performances available on-demand. An all-access pass, including BSL-interpreted versions, was available from March 7, 2022.
In 2021, SISF invited Scottish storytellers to contribute to the festival by submitting proposals centered around the theme of "Imagine." Supported by the Scottish Government Festival Expo Fund, this initiative resulted in innovative new works by Scottish and international artists.
Audiences were encouraged to embark on a journey of imagination, exploring pasts, futures, and timeless realms.
Keep it lit
The Scottish International Storytelling Festival (SISF) 2022 festival theme – Keep It Lit, a symbolic fire where experiences and memories are shared, and the torch of oral storytelling is passed on.
In celebration of Scotland’s Year of Stories, the 2022 festival programme is the largest to date. From 14 - 31 October, over 240 events formed the world’s largest celebration of storytelling. During Covid-19, the festival hosted 145 free events so everyone can find a seat round the hearth.
Designed with this in mind, each character is walking towards a cauldron on fire, each guiding one another to their main destination. The background features iconic monuments of Scotland, while a hidden green man lurks in the underworld to depict the concept of folklore and storytelling. The colour palette was derived from the branding guidelines, and the typefaces were hand-drawn, inspired by traditional Celtic folklore.
